The Fruit of the Tree

Gustav Klimt - Adam and Eve
It is not something you know or have. You think you know it because it knows you, you feel you have it because it has you. It is not a "something" at all.  It is the nothing that contains everything.

Joy is its substance, peace is its threshold. All strength is drawn from it, and all desire leads to it.

It is the irrepressible, indefatigable reality of you. Love is its true name.

Existence involves a transaction; the exquisite beauty of this life is paid for with the grim inevitability of death. That is the fruit of the tree. Who would choose not to bite into it?

Eve listened to the wisdom of the serpent and acted out of choiceless awareness.
